I have grappled with self promotion for years; at times it felt braggadocios and egotistical, and I needn't a bigger head to carry on this achy neck. So in between times of notoriety and anonymity, I continue to work to make my place productive and beautiful, and it feels right, satisfying, challenging, and creative. And now with 20 years of what I call Earth Centered living and work under my belt, I am finally realizing what a gift I can be for humanity and our Mother Earth. To put my head in the soils of my building is not the greatest service I can be to you or me. Maybe becoming a father has reminded me that there are many more to come who are looking to us, right now, to make a difference in our world. Their future anger at a world so ill cared for pushes me onward.
There are millions if not billions of people on the Earth who want a better life not only for themselves, but also for the wild ones around them. Our individual and collective brilliance increases daily, calling us to care for each other and our Mother. My son, and your daughters deserve a world into which they can thrive and offer their gifts of service and creation. As it stands we are leaving them a legacy of abuse and pollution, we will be asking them to be the custodians of the future Earth. In this life I have cleaned up three junkyards, inherited by my family. It is hard work cleaning up others messes, it was demoralizing at times, and yet each shard of glass represents a small step towards a beautiful future. I use to call this Whitestone Farm, a hillbilly nightmare, shot up glass, household trash mountains, broken down cars, abandoned appliances, baby doll heads, and plastic brick-brak for miles. My goal was to be able to walk barefooted and talk with the plants. We surpassed that long ago.
Creating beauty on Earth is our prime directive, of this I am sure. We are makers, dreamers, doers who have the tools to clean up this mess quickly and move into a golden age of harmless production and abundance. Yes we must curtail our continued thirst for more and growth. And there are many pitfalls and challenges on the way, yet we must keep the thread alive. By picking each other up, and supporting one another we can transform our lives, from our hearts to our world.
We can do this, now! We are ready, skilled, and able. Together we will forge a sane future by getting busy now!
